PT Saratoga Investama Sedaya performance first quarter on 2014

PT Saratoga Investama the first of three months on this year has earned a net profit of Rp 444 billion. The number was up 383 percent from Rp 92 billion in the first quarter of 2013. President Director of PT Saratoga Sandiaga S. Uno explained that the increase in net income largely contributed by the company's performance investment of Rp 169 billion and foreign exchange gain of Rp 159 billion .
According to Uno , strengthening the economy that occurred in early 2014 the company has successfully encouraged to grow in a positive performance . " The company managed to optimize the potential for continued strong economic growth in both domestic and global . We will continue to maintain this positive momentum to achieve the business targets that have been set , " said Uno.
In terms of revenue , Saratoga earned revenue of Rp 1.6 trillion , or an increase of 169 percent when compared to the same period in 2013 amounting to Rp 583 billion . Meanwhile , Chief Financial Officer of PT Saratoga Investama Sedaya Tbk , Jerry Ngo added , to maximize the potential for economic growth in Indonesia in 2014, the Company has allocated approximately 100 million U.S. dollars for new investments in strategic sectors including infrastructure sector .
" The growing need for energy provide attractive investment opportunities. We are exploring investment in power plant projects given the demand for electricity in Indonesia each year grew by an average 8.4 per cent , " added Jerry Ngo. Overall, the performance of Saratoga rests on three main business sectors , namely consumer , infrastructure and natural resources.
Consumer and infrastructure sectors has continued to strengthen the business, in line with the improving domestic economy. While in the natural resources sector , the price of coal has decreased over the last 2 years, started to show signs of strengthening . " We are optimistic that 2014 will provide more optimal performance , given the potential for economic growth both globally and domestically will be higher than in 2013 . Nevertheless , Saratoga will stay focused investing disciplines to achieve optimal results, " he added .
